What’s Buzzing?: Chris Panzer

Standard

The current Champion of the Philippines stops by and talks about his Triple L debut in ResGal, his title defense with Evan Carleaux, and the dark side of the Motor City Angel.

From accomplishments, beginnings, endings… anything is a buzz. “What’s Buzzing?” is where Bee sits down with exciting and interesting people and catches up on their happenings!

2019 for Chris Panzer was… eventful, to say the least.

Once the beloved Motor City Angel, Panzer joined the ranks of Mr. Sy’s Group of Talents (MSG) and grew his demonic horns, raising hell upon the PWR (Philippine Wrestling Revolution) ring. With the attitude change and newfound comrades, he finally got what he wanted during PWR Homecoming, defeating Quatro & Jeff Cobb in a spectacular triple threat match to become the first and only three-time Kampeon ng Pilipinas (Champion of the Philippines).

He rang in the new decade with plans of aiming higher.

And he did, debuting in London Lucha League (Triple L)’s “Get Lucha Done” as the first Filipino-trained wrestler performing in the European region. Battling some of the best that Triple L has to offer in Tengu’s International Chaos, he has shown what the Filipino Strong Style is all about – hard-hitting and resilient as HELL.

With the world currently to a halt, I get to catch up with Panzer to gather his thoughts on his history-making visit and to get a glimpse of the future of the PWR Championship.

Fade the Kayfabe: Naughty Boys

“The Naughty Boys” chats about their livers, #YearOfTheNice, being friends outside of wrestling, their cancelled bouts, and more.

“Fade the Kayfabe” is a wrestling interview series that aims to give other fans an outside-the-ring perspective of wrestling talent and personalities that Hannah Bee personally believes in. Open to getting interviews from across the globe, “Fade the Kayfabe” hopes that it can introduce fans to their next favorites whilst learning something new with their current ones!

I have a confession — I was the kind of fan who scoffed at the sight of comedy wrestling when I was new to the world of professional wrestling. The elitist in my 13 year old self prided on being mature enough to like the storyline-heavy stuff instead of the “segments aimed for the kids”. I thought that I was cool that way, highbrowing anything remotely lighthearted.

I still repent on this up to this day.

As years went by, I have learned to appreciate comedy wrestling, to see it as something that is as important as the “heavy stuff”. As much as some of them are downright shitty attempts at lightheartedness (remember Santina?), most of them are worth your time, your attention… your praise.

The realization made me enjoy the industry more than ever — professional wrestling should be, at the end of the day, #AllOutFun.

With the current uncertainties that the whole world is facing, it’s hard to imagine what will happen in the industry when all of this is done. Hell, it’s even hard to look at the days ahead personally, especially when you need to face the realities of it head-on as a healthcare front liner.

Which is why I find it awe-inspiring to see that despite everything, everyone is still donning the future tense mindset – from fans, to talent, and promotions alike! The scene is still buzzing with life, with people all over the world coming up with innovations and ideas for the present and the future of professional wrestling.

Speaking of the future, let’s look into one of BritWres’ undeniable stars, in which I know will kill it once everyone’s safe to go back!

It’s hard getting noticed in the world of professional wrestling nowadays.

With the world available on our fingertips 24/7, with the plethora of wrestling styles and talent capable of enticing us straight from our devices… standing out has become more important than ever in securing patronage, admiration, and attention not just from their live audience faithfuls but to their online fan base too. Every performance has the possibility of becoming an international hit, every social media post an opportunity of getting their foot in the door.

When I decided to kick my ass into gear and relaunch this site, I knew that wrestling blogs suffer this same fate – being unique was the only way to get traction.

What better way to get the ball rolling by bringing in someone who’s headstrong in separating himself from the pack…

I know someone – a carny who fancies pulling marks in like a flame to a poor moth.
